It has been recently reported that some dealers have been recently offered FinePix cameras from sources other than Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. After investigating this situation, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. has concluded that these cameras were originally sold to European or Asian distributors. The origin of these cameras can be traced via the serial number.

It is important that we bring this issue to your attention since purchasing European or Asian specification FinePix cameras in the U.S.A. will result in the following difficulties:

- Fujifilm cameras originating from sources outside of Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. are not warranted by Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. and therefore would not be eligible for warranty service from Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. The origin of these cameras can easily be traced via the serial numbers. The UPC code will be different than the models made for the U.S.A.

- European and Asian specification cameras are set up for the PAL video standard and therefore are not compatible with the NTSC standard in the U.S.A., thereby disabling the important video preview feature.

- The electrical adapter supplied with European and Asian standard cameras is not compatible with the U.S. electrical system. We cannot supply U.S.A. standard AC adapters for these cameras.

- Since FinePix cameras are subject to Part 15 of FCC regulations, it is possible that gray market cameras may not meet FCC standards and therefore, sellers of these cameras may be subject to extensive fines.

Fujifilm FinePix cameras marketed by Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. can be easily identified by the following UPC codes:

- FinePix A330: 074101408904
- FinePix A340: 074101408362
- FinePix F700: 074101480641
- FinePix S3000: 074101407808
- FinePix S5000: 074101480696
- FinePix S7000: 074101480610

- Cameras originating elsewhere will have different codes. U.S. models have notation of "NTSC" to the right of the UPC code or "US" next to the model number on the box. FinePix cameras coming from Europe or Asia will have a different notation.
